Rabbi Peter Grumbacher  

  Rabbi Peter Grumbacher was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Hunter College in 1967. He was ordained Rabbi and received his Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters in 1972 from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1979 Rabbi Grumbacher graduated from the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health, New York, with a Pastoral Counseling Certificate. In 1991 he was awarded a Master of Social Work from Yeshiva University. Upon ordination in 1972, Rabbi Grumbacher became Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Beth Emeth in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1976 he was asked to be Associate Rabbi and in 1982 was installed as Senior Rabbi of the congregation.

He is a member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Rabbinical Association of Delaware. He served as President of the Mid-Atlantic Region - Central Conference of American Rabbis from 1982-1984. He also serves on the National Commission on Rabbinical- Congregational Relations.

Rabbi Grumbacher has been involved in numerous civic activities in Delaware including Chairperson of the Delaware Interfaith Coalition on Aging, Chair of the State Human Relations Commission and Senior Chairperson of the Delaware Region - National Conference of Christians and Jews.

He is married to the former Suzanne Wilner. They are the parents of three children - David, Alexander and Elana, and the grandparents of Mikayla, Jonathan, and Ayla.
