Friday, January 13th, Congregation Beth Emeth and Hanover Presbyterian Church will join Congregation Beth Shalom for a Kosher Gospel Shabbat, celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr., featuring Joshua Nelson and our own Beth Emeth choir! Joshua Nelson (link: http://www.joshuanelson.com/fr_home.cfm) is nationally recognized for his work bringing together Jewish religious lyrics and meaning with American gospel music.
Shabbat Services will be at CONGREGATION BETH SHALOM at 1801 Baynard Boulevard, at 8pm. Please contact Beth Shalom at 302.654.4462 if you have any questions.
We Jews have traveled the world (by force or by choice) and you can find Jews in many unusual locales. One of the most fascinating stories of Jewish wanderings, is the story of the “Secret Jews” – many in our own Southwestern states. The question often pondered by historians and scholars (or just the inquisitive) is WAS COLUMBUS ONE OF THESE SECRET JEWS.
Please join us for this interesting talk. All members of Beth Emeth and the community are welcome to attend. Please invite your spouse or friends. Let us know how many people will be coming.
Breakfast will be a la carte from the Kishka Cafe. Reply to the Evite (to be sent 12/17) or RSVP to Steve Zimmerman at 302-762-2976 or zimross@comcast.net

"Telling Tales Out Of Shul" with Rabbi Emeritus Peter Grumbacher - February 5, 2012 at 9:00 am
As you can imagine, Rabbi Grumbacher's head is full of stories from his long tenure at Beth Emeth. Though an hour and a quarter will hardly be enough time to hear them all, it should be an amusing and interesting talk. The names have been changed to protect the innocent (and maybe not so innocent!). And if enough people badger him, maybe he'll write a book about it some day.
All members of Beth Emeth and the community are welcome to attend. Please invite your spouse or friends. Let us know how many people will be coming.

"They Make Us Laugh" with Lee Mussoff of the Delaware Humanities Forum - March 4, 2012 at 9:00 am
In the beginning was the word, and the words of gifted humorists make us laugh. With the aid of handouts and videos, the speaker will explore the verbal humor of classical humorists such as Ogden Nash and Dorothy Parker, as well as contemporaries like George Carlin and Jerry Seinfeld. Song lyrics and parodies are also good sources of humor. The audience is encouraged to share the gift of laughter.
