Israel at 60… In Their Own Words”

Rabbi Grumbacher

Since May 14th is the secular anniversary of Israel’s birth sixty years ago, I thought the words of those who visited Israela few weeks ago would speak volumes. So here are some comments:

“(Israelis) are passionate and intense about (their) country, past, present and future. The historical sites are incredible (as are) the restorations. (It was) very emotional, especially Yad Vashem (HolocaustMemorialMuseum) and the Western Wall…”

Western Wall Ancient Ruins at Caesarea Masada

“Smells of food, history of Israeland its people…no ancient stone left undescribed!”

Cardo, Jerusalem Chagall Windows at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem

“A unique and unsurpassable experience unlike any other…I leave here with a better understanding and appreciation of this unusual country and with great respect of its people…”

“Seeing how close the Arab countries are and how they surround Israel amazes me that Israel can survive the way it does…Visiting Israel is an experience – seeing the old with the new – the diversity of the people and the continual progress it continues to make.”

Golan Heights Sinai Desert Looking Down at Part of Jerusalem

“Faith, determination, courage, devotion”

“A dream of a lifetime has come true. Everything has been just as I’ve dreamed – even more so! The sights, sounds, and smells, the adventure, were all worth the twenty-five year wait.”

The Treasury at Petra, Jordan Petra Petra, too Old Synagogue in Tzfat (Center of Kabbalat)

“This was an experience of making life-long friends as well as a most memorable life journey. One of the accomplishments completed on my ‘life list.”

“Long live Israel!”
