Mitzvah Day

Sunday, January 14, 2018 • 27 Tevet 5778

All Day

This is a day when families are welcome to participate, as well as their children, as we have the chance to do tikkun olam (repairing the world) through various acts of tzedakah (righteous giving).

This year, the projects will include:

  • * Packing lunches for the hungry.
  • * Packing toiletry bags for the homeless or for people in shelters.
  • * Making fleece blankets or scarves to give to those who need warmth.
  • * Decorating mezzuzot to send to the Jewish community in Houston and other areas affected by the hurricans, for families who are rebuilding.
  • * Cleaning out and organizing the Youth Lounge so that our own community can be helped.
  • * Making cards to send to people who are ill.
  • * Recording story books for kids who are in the hospital.
  • * Making a hot meal to deliver to the hungry.
  • * And more.....

In order for this program to be a success, we need your help.  First, we would love for you to participate.  Whether you have children in the religious school or not, come celebrate giving with our learning community.  You can come as a participant or you can volunteer to help lead on of the stations.

Please fill out the form below to let us know that you plan to join us.

We also need your help in collecting items.  We are asking for the following donations, which will be collected in marked bins in the CBE lobby:

  • * Travel size toiletries (if you are traveling during the winter break and staying at a hotel, collect the toiletries you're not using or you can ask the hotel for a donation).
  • *Female sanitary products.
  • * New socks and underwear.

And we are also asking for financial contributions.  Money donated will go to offset the costs of the program (purchasing food for the meal preparation, buying fleece fabric, getting other materials, etc.)  Any additional money will go towards the organizations that we are supporting on mitzvah day, or to purchase additional items for the item collections.

You can make your contribution below as well.

Thank you very much for helping us make Mitzvah Day possible.
