August 19, Music of the High Holy Days - Explore the music of the High Holy Days with Cantor Pellen.

August 26, Sophie Lynford: The High Holidays in Victorian Art Delaware Art Museum. Curator and Beth Emeth congregant Sophie Lynford will give a talk on artistic representations of the High Holidays by British artists during the nineteenth century, paying close attention to depictions of Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

September 2, New Year's Greetings - With our Director of Lifelong Learning, Eliana Hall, we will explore a variety of examples of Rosh Hashanah greeting cards that span more than 100 years of "Shana Tova" in Hebrew, Yiddish, and English, including several wonderful samples sent from the American Jewish Archives.

September 9, The Art of the Shofar - Join Rabbi Robinson to learn the art of the shofar.

Join us for a Taschlich Service and shofar blowing, following the afternoon Rosh Hashanah service on Sunday, September 13 at 3:15. We will gather in the parking lot to hear the shofar and continue down to the creek to cast away our misdeeds of 5786 and start fresh in 5787.

Break the Fast to Follow

Community Break Fast:

Please join your fellow Beth Emeth Congregants for our Community Break-the-Fast immediately following Neilah (approximately 6:30 PM) on Monday, September 21. The menu will be a traditional dairy and fish meal including lox, bagels and assorted salads and desserts.

The cost is $36.00 for adults and $18.00 for children under 12. Children under 5 are free.

Operation Isaiah

…Offer your bread to the hungry and satisfy the famished - Isaiah 58

Congregation Beth Emeth will once again conduct Operation Isaiah, our annual High Holiday food drive, to benefit Joseph’s Pantry, CBE’s food pantry. Joseph’s Pantry distributes food and personal items to food insecure individuals and families in our community. The need continues to grow, so your generosity is much appreciated.

Empty bags will be distributed at Rosh Hashanah. Please return filled bags when you come to Yom Kippur services. Bags may also be dropped off any weekday between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

While all donations are welcome, our most pressing needs are:

  • Baby Wipes
  • Paper Towels
  • Toilet Paper
  • Cleaning Products
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Ethnic Hair Care
  • Hygiene Products
